The consortium of WETSCAPES at its first colloquium in June 2017

WETSCAPES for the first time combines the expertise of all relevant researchers who work on the topic of "peatlands ecosystems" in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, developing excellence in peatland research. The integration of methodological skills, analytical thinking and transfer of knowledge from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Greifswald and the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rostock together with the know-how of other associated partners (DLR Neustrelitz, Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT) in Rostock) creates synergies and added value of expertise. This is essential for a better understanding of biotic, abiotic and biogeochemical processes in drained/agricultural and rewetted peatlands. The involved partners are established international experts in their field and acquired their competence in relevant third-party funded projects.
